    Ancient Greece was not a single country but it comprise of many city states which weer called 'poilis'. At the center of each city state had a city around which all commercial and trade activities revolved. Each city state had its own government. Some 'polis' were ruled by tyrants and other states by oligarchs who were powerful aristocrats in thee city state.

    Corinth was a trade city which was around two important gulfs they are Saronic gulf and Corinthian gulfs. This strategic location made Corinth to be the wealthiest city of all city states. They developed their own coins and used them easily in trade and in transacting goods.
