Shile it is nomral to feel fear and shock during and shortly after the event, some people experience the same fear long after the event has happened. PTSD is the feeling that one is in danger, even though it isn't real danger, the person feels stressed and frightened. Some of the symptoms are nightmares or bad dreams and flashbacks, the person may also experience avoidance symptoms, like staying away from the places that remind him or her of the experience.
