What happened in the Byzantine Empire in 532 C. E. during Justinian's I reign?

In the year or 532 C. E, the Nika Revolt began, lasting over a week in Constantinople during the reign of Justinian I. The disturbance caused the destruction of much of the central city area and was quashed after a significant loss of life.
