    Explanation:

    Referent power is one type of power in which a leader has the capacity to influence and inspire his followers. The source of its authority and power comes from how much people admires him/her. These other people identify with the leader and start acting like him/her.

    In this example, Becky and Latoya have their ears pierced because the most popular girl in her class has her ears pierced. We can see that this girl is being admired by the others and they start acting like her by piercing her ears. Therefore, this is an example of referent power.
