A scatter plot of summary statistics will only show data that has been trimmed off or the basic numbers such as the mean, median, standard deviation, etc, of the data being presented. This allows for a much more normalized data set without any of the outliers. Individual observations are random and hectic in nature since there will almost always be outliers as the data is not normalized.
