Compare and contrast attitudes in the Union and the Confederacy about enlisting African American soldiers.

    Union: Enlisted African Americans individuals for preferred non-combat jobs and paid them $13 a month ($10 for spending, $3 for clothing), but were in the infantry as soldiers as well.

    Confederacy: Completely against it and used African American individuals as slave labor for their masters and fellow soldiers who were fighting in the army to treat and serve the white soldiers. (Except a feared African American sniper unit in the Confederate Ranks)

    Both: African American soldiers and servers both played a large part in the Civil War
