An audiologist is testing your hearing. she instructs you to raise your hand whenever you hear a tone through headphones. some of the time you hear tones; some are loud, some are of medium volume, and some are very quiet to you. some of the time you do not hear anything. after the test, the audiologist tells you that her test is designed so that some tones will be so quiet that you can only hear them about half of the time. she tells you that this is how she establishes the lowest intensity that you can hear. this smallest intensity of a stimulus that you can detect 50 percent of the time is
