What was the journey from west Africa to west Indies

The triangular trade, a system of trading routes between Europe, Africa and America, also known as "The Middle Passage", was a step in the process of the Atlantic slave trade, that forcibly transported millions of Africans to west indies.

The journey carrying the slaves densely packed into ships from West Africa used to take around three weeks, although adverse weather conditions could make the journey much longer. It was called "The Middle Passage" due being the middle section of the trade route, taking the Africans away from their homeland; and it only ended after the American Civil War ended in 1865.
