Life in the Sahara Desert clusters around oasis because it is an area with lush, fertile land made to be so by a nearby water source.
Oases are often also important because they are a vital spot for traders and merchants to meet and refill on food, travel supplies, and water. These spots are important for military and political control of the routes to and from the oases.
