The main problem of New Mexico's economy was the dependence on federal salaries of most of the population. For a long time there was no development of private enterprises or small business. The large economic differences between the oil wealth of the South and the recession facing the north of the state since the fall of gas puts the entire state in a difficult situation of inequality and imbalance. the population can not grow, because even new investments in oil and gas require less personnel than in the past, since this entire sector has been technified.
