    The feeling of sadness or loneliness is the same for both parents. The "Empty Nest Syndrome" is what parents feel when the last son or daughter leaves home and they feel are alone in the house. That void or emptiness feeling often hits hard on parents because they were so used to have a companion for years: And then, all of a sudden, they are alone again.
