    Alexander Hamilton argued that government should pay off the states debt. Hamilton believes that we all fought for our freedom, so, our federal government should pay the bill. He supported the Constitution because it included a president and more power to the national government.

    Hamilton's views on Government include;

    - Strong centralized government can best defend natural rights.

    - State sovereignty leads to disunity/weakness.

    - Favored a strong central government.

    - Wanted power in the hands of the wealthy and well educated rather than the hands of the people.

    - Thought the nation's economy should be based on manufacturing, shipping, and commerce and not on farming.

    - Interpreted the Constitution loosely as giving powers not specifically stated.
