The correct answer is selective distortion

Selective distortion, which makes the receiver change the meaning of the stimuli so that they are adapted to their beliefs and feelings.

In order to hear only what you want, consumers may experience distortions of the message received. Faced with expectations about what they will hear, the receiver will gather the information and be able to elaborate it in a totally different way, according to their own belief system.
