    Lawrence Kholberg, as Jean Piaget, developed a theory on moral development and described how peope go through three major stages of development on the ethical and moral aspect of their lives. The three stages described by him, in his theory, which took from Piaget's own theories, and built up on them, but later on came out with something different, are: the preconventional stage, divided into the obedience and punishment sub-stage and self-interest, the conventional stage and the post-conventional stage, both also subdivided into sub-stages. However, the one stage that does not belong to adolescents, but rather to childhood, is the preconventional stage of moral development. It is the conventional stage that initiates during adolescence.
