Report on whether your state constitution (Iowa) includes a statement or bill of rights. Summarize the kinds of rights that are protected. How do they compare with the protections in the U. S. Bill of Rights?

    The state of Iowa does have its own Bill of Rights.

    The rights that are protected include, but are not limited to: right of persons, right of political power, religion, dueling, laws uniform, liberty of speech and press, personal security, due process of law, twice tried bail, habeas corpus, imprisonment of debt, treason, quartering/housing of soldiers, slavery, suffrage, distribution of power, and agricultural leases.

    They compare to U. S. Bill of Rights protections by containing many of the same rights such as: freedom of religion, freedom to vote, searches and seizures, twice tried bail, freedom of the press, quartering/housing of soldiers,
