A shock, which is a sudden upsetting or surprising event or experience, can definitely change ones life or at least the perspective of it. In my experience, I have had these two events that made me view things differently:

1 - My father's health issues with diabetes: This happened just one month ago, and seeing the person that you believed was the strongest in the world go through the different horrible effects of diabetes, specifically diabetic foot, which is one of the most horrifying things you can see happening to one of your loved ones, caused by simply eating things that your body can no longer process. This made me consider things to a higher level, to check more closely the things I eat, do a full research on the historical health events in my family, etc. From now on, I am forced to live with a different perspective, I can not lie to myself, after gaining awareness of something that is highly probable of happening to me.

2 - The birth of my first son: When you are young and full of ideas of what life is and could be, a beloved being is born and is now a big part of you, your view of the world and how you handle situations is drastically changed. In this case, my son was born, and ever since that day, I have became a more centered individual when taking chances, risking much less, and definitely taking care of our financials religiously.
