The character of the narrator in "The black cat" made by Edgar Allan Poe is a sociopath. This means that he don't feel remorse or guilt for doing wrong things, his behavior is violent and also emotional, he doesn't respect social rules and for that reason, he disregards other rights. Since the beginning of the story, we find a middle-aged man that is not as trustworthy as he said: "I neither expect nor solicit belief". As the story continues we see that as a child he didn't like people and people don't like him this fits the idea of an antisocial, so he embraced the company of animals instead of humans. But despite that fact he is married and he felt the rules of the society in marriage so he began to change his behavior towards his wife. He became aggressive and violent and suddenly that behavior is translated to the black cat. The emotion of hatred present prior to the protagonist drinking problems. This hate is transferred to the cat but he is the symbol of his wife, as we see he uses words as a creature. hideous beast to actually refer to his wife. This means that the problems of the narrator are psychological since he was a child.
