The belief that one own's culture is superior to other cultures is known as ethnocentrism.

Ethnocentrism is when someone has the belief in the intrinsic superiority of his/her own nation, culture or group. Sometimes this people has also the feeling of dislike for the other groups. We can see the ethnocentrism portrayed as humorous in some movies, songs, theatre plays, etc. One example of this could be the movie 'The Big Fat Greek Wedding', where a Greek family believes that being Greek is the only acceptable way of doing things, thinking and living. However, in this movie the director took special care in not showing in a negative manner the Greek culture, making clear the message that he wanted to transmit.
