How is the great rift valley unique

The Great Rift Valley, or the valley of the East African Rift, is unique because it is currently splitting the African plate into two, combines rift and fault systems, home to some of the oldest, largest, deepest Great Lakes in the world, and is a source of some of the oldest human remains on the planet.
