Christopher Columbus was voyaging out in the direction he thought was the way to the West Indies, it was not. He was wrong. He came across land and assumed it was. This land is what we now call America. Christopher Columbus then claimed himself as the founder and the man who found America, though he was not. There were people there before him. This is why he is not reliable.
