    Hi,

It was assumed that individuals in Roosevelt's Executive Order No. 9066 were targeted for internment because they were Japanese American.

    Explanation

This order was signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt targeting the removal of Japanese Americans from an area that was termed a military area. This happened following the bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese thus to address the fear that was building in the nation, off-limit military areas were identified including the West Coast.
