Why did the British attack New Orleans in 1815?

1. They wanted to take control of the U. S. Capitol .

2. They wanted to take control of the Mississippi River.

3. They wanted to draw away U. S. troops attacking in Canada.

4. They wanted to support Native American forces in the region.

    I think it's two. The reason why is because you could transport materials downs the Mississippi River & the land is fertile.

    I think 1 or 2 because in 1812 British burnt down the white House. Which I'm guessing they wanted to tear down America and kill the president.
