The experiment of the Bobo doll was conducted by Albert Bandura in 1961 and 1963, for the study of the behavior of children after seeing adult models with aggressive behavior towards a "bobo doll".

There are different variations of the experiment. The most notable measures the behavior of children after seeing a model that is rewarded, punished or lacking consequences for hitting the bobo doll.

This experiment is the empirical demonstration of Bandura's theory of social learning. It shows that people not only learn by being rewarded or punished in themselves (behaviorism), but they can also learn by seeing someone being rewarded or punished (learning by observation). These experiments are important, since as a result of these many more studies on the effects of learning by observation were initiated and from them have derived practical implications, for example, how children can be influenced when experiencing violent situations.
