He was different because he believed that blacks' problems would only be solved if there was a complete separation between blacks and whites and blacks moved to Africa.

    Explanation:

Garvey was a black nationalist. He believed that the condition of the black could not be resolved without the complete separation of the white "race" from the black. It was partisan and idealizer of the movement for the blacks to return to Africa.

Despite his contradictory and confusing theory of profound religious influence, his policy influenced a number of black activists in the struggle for the decolonization of Africa against the European imperialist powers.

His participation in the struggle of blacks began with his perception, through several trips to work, of the terrible and miserable social condition of blacks in Latin America. He then became an activist, publishing a series of newspapers and pamphlets against the exploitation of whites.

Garvey was different from many civil rights leaders, in that the organization he founded, embraced black self-determinism through race pride
