    The British government takes control of the East India Company's territories. In 1858 India's companies were in great debt so the British, by Government of India Act, ruled that the Company should be governed by the British Crown.

    India's textile industry collapses. Around 1880, India textile industry declined because of competition, India could not meet British demands for quality, price and quantity of textile, so the Industry just collapsed.

    Gandhi promoted India independence from British. Around 1915 Gandhi became an important figure for the independence of India, whom is very known for his non-violent protests regarding this matter.

    Mohandas Gandhi organizes boycotts of British goods. The Rowlatt Acts of 1919 led Gandhi to organize boycotts of British goods, which included not buying any of England products and services, non-cooperation with British and acts of strike.

    Britain splits India into two states. In 1947 the Indian Independence Act divided Muslim and Hindus, the partition of the area intended to end the conflict between the groups.

    Britain withdraws from South Asia. The official date declared by British to withdraw from India was June 1948.
