The psychologist is using a qualitative research method. He is gathering information but not in numeric form (the traditional quantitative approach in science), in order to analyze it using a naturalistic or interpretative approach. Facts are observed in the field or in its natural conditions, with the aim of capturing human experience in all its extent. This qualitative phenomenological approach is called Humanism and focuses on the uniqueness of each individual, his/her social or cultural background, life story, etc.
