The senate forms the upper house while the representatives form the lower house of legislature.

The difference between senate and the house comes largely from their election process and terms. While the house is elected for four years the senate is elected for five.

The house is elected by the people of their constituency while the senator is elected by the house.

The members of the house represent their constituency within a state while the senator represents a particular state that they are elected for.
