I believe the answer is: nature and nurture

'Nature' in this context, refers to the view that personality is already pre-determined ever since we are born, and nothing people can do about it. 'Nuture' on the other hand views that personality is the result of both experience, observation, and environmental factors. So the way our personality develop could very much be controlled by our habit.
