The term "colored" was considered somewhat pejorative even during hurston's time. why does hurston use it in her title and throughout her essay? she uses a number of different terms when referring to skin color. what may she be suggesting?

    She repeats it to lessen the connotative power of the word because her audience has ignorant people. She's suggesting that oppressive and superficial description are irrelevant to a person's personality.
