Native Americans were large divided by the Revolutionary Way because of their experiences with the French and Indian War.

The Americans, while under the yoke of the British Crown, were terrible neighbors to the Native Americans. They regularly disobeyed treaties that the Crown had made with tribes and took tribal land.

The Native population, therefore, largely allied with the French Government against the British in the French and Indian War.

However in the Revolutionary War, the French allied with the American colonists providing a divide that the tribes had to come to terms with as they decided their allegiances.
