Why is india projected to overtake china as the most populous country by 2030

China is experiencing a population contraction. Due to sustaining low levels of fertility, since 2010, 26 countries or areas have experienced a reduction of around one percent in the size of their populations. In China the population is projected to decrease by 31.4 million which would be 2.2 percent, between 2019 and 2050.
