What factors allowed large coastal cities to develop in the Middle Colonies?

    Coastal Cities have a number of benefits, such as having access to sea trade, and being able to develop a fleet. In the case of colonies another important factor played a role: a vast majority of people came by ship from Europe, so coastal cities were an easy choice for them to settle in.
