You don't want people to walk all over you. You want to be able to be treated the same as everyone else. It isn't fair if you get a lower pay just because you have a different skin tone, religion, gender, etc. It's important to fight so that way you can be happy and also have some control over your life. If you just let people push you down and tell you you can't do something because of a superficial or racist reason, you won't get the opportunity to accomplish everything you want to.
