The Declaration of Sentiments was based on the Seneca Falls Convention. It identified the rights of women as citizens. It expresses the rights of women to suffrage, acquire their own property and a divorce. It was not easy for those who supported this to stand for the rights of women. It still took time before it was finally accepted by society.
