What is ' The late loyalists ' and what did they do?

The Late Loyalists were the largest group of people to settle in Upper Canada before the War of 1812. They either neutral during the war or were against the Crown. They were not trustworthy and sometimes tried to sell republicanism to other Upper Canadians.
