What is the primary reason that animals are attracted to the african savanna?

Most animals were attracted to the African Savanna because of vegetation in which half of the plants there were considered as "edible." Furthermore, they were also a huge presence of its preys at the area thus food access is significantly better than of the desert regions in Africa.
