The answer of this question is:

There are many factors which have hampered the efforts to improve the condition of common Indian.

Most important factor is over population. Limited resources cannot suffice for ever increasing population. In this regard India is one of the most affected countries. Moreover a large number of Indians are not educated.

Lack of education too is contributing immensely in perpetuating the problems of most Indians. Unless India improves its literacy rate it cannot achieve its goal in improving the lot of common man.

Another very endemic problem is that of infectious diseases which account for half of annual deaths. These include heart diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases. Millions of people are affected due to these infectious diseases. Yet another problem is ever increasing urbanisation. People are migrating to big cities in droves due to facilities available in them but this in turn is resulting in extreme strain on the already depleted resources of the big cities.

Lack of sanitation is another problem which is hampering the way of progress. People cannot live healthy life unless they are provided with healthy environment. In India most people live in unhealthy conditions. Water scarcity is another very important problem. Water scarcity places a severe strain on its natural resources, and most of its water sources are contaminated by sewage and agricultural run-off. Though efforts are being made to provide people with safe and clean water but these efforts are continuously being hampered due to lack of enough funds.
