The capture of the Crimean Peninsula was very important to Hitler. So much so that he issued the Directive 33 which prioritized the conquest of Crimea. He was optimistic after capturing Crimea because he saw this as a chance to defeat England. That is because England gets its oil from Crimea and by conquering it, the English would run out of oil.
