    Cognitive dissonance happens when what we think, believe, or how we behave conflict. This causes a change in how we might think, believe, or behave in order to step that discomfort.

    For example, someone might do drugs, but might also be aware that the drug is bad for him. This might cause a change in his actions to stop doing that drug.
