    She wanted to hurt her mother because she is not happy with her mother forcing her to perform and she succeeds in her effort. Her mother wanted her to become a prodigy which lead and fueled her rebellious behavior towards her mother. "Two Kinds" is a short story written by Amy Tan and it was first published 1989.
