Americans value innovation, newness, creativity, "thinking outside the box". Individualism is the focus and goal. Standing out of the crowd is highly valued. In France, conformity societal norms and centuries old traditions are what’s valued. Solidarity (the union and banding together to stand for the same thing) is a word you’ll here a hundred times a day in France. Believing and standing up for the same things are the goal.
