Under the Magna Carta, the King ruled it limited his actions. He had to fulfill his promises prevented him from committing abuses. He also had to consult with the other barons before taking actions. To sum it up, the king now had to conform to the law and the barons monitored the king to make sure that he complies with the rules such limitations of taxation, swift justice and protection from illegal imprisonment. If the king accepted these conditions then he continued to rule.
