Trade deficits are when we are importing more than we are exporting. It is concerning because the country isn't creating enough jobs, and instead is paying for cheaper labor overseas. For example, I could pay a US worker 2 dollars to assemble a pair of sunglasses. Or I could pay someone in China 25 cents to assemble the same pair of glasses. So I am denying the US workers the job opportunity by investing my money overseas.
