The first necessary step when critiquing art is describing what it is that you are observing. You need to make sure that when describing a work, you give plenty of details and descriptions so that readers can create a clear idea of the artwork in their minds. You also need to describe the technical aspects of the work, such as the medium the artist chose, the name of the artist and the year in which the artwork was created.
