In this case, Mary got and myocardium infarct and then the doctor does bypass surgery to restore its blood flow. Myocardium is the name of the muscle of the heart. In fact is a condition when the cell is death (can be by various cause). In this case, the muscle died because of the lack of oxygen.

Reperfusion injury happen when an area that undergoes lack of oxygen got for a long duration got it blood flow back. In this condition, the perfusion will cause additional damage and induce inflammation and oxidation, causing injury to the cells.
