What nutrients do mitochondria need?

    Mitochondria are cellular organelles responsible for supplying most of the energy necessary for cellular activity (cellular respiration). They act as power plants of the cell and synthesize ATP at the expense of metabolic fuels (glucose, fatty acids and amino acids).
