How is the dumping of sewage and other waste harmful to aquatic environment?

It is a known fact which has been proven by researchers in different published articles on how sewage has greatly affected lives in aquatic environment. Every living organisms found in aquatic environment survives best when the pH of the water is neutral or a bit above slightly, sewage contributes to increase in acidity of aquatic environment, hence; reduces lives in such environment.
