Scientists are worried about the future of some species that have experienced extreme decreases in both population size and genetic diversity, including cheetahs, bison, and elephant seals. Using the concept of genetic diversity, explain why these animals may be in trouble even if their population sizes have increased in recent years.

Scientist are worried about the future of some animals because their number and genetic diversity both is very low.

Genetic variation in the organism of the same species or different species provides the stability for the survival.

Even if the number of organism increases its stability will be low because the genetic variation of those organism is low.

So, even after their number increases they can die due to less variability so genetic variation is equally important as like that of population size.
