The answer is; The trait can be passed down from parent to offspring.

These traits are passed down from parents to offspring through genetic material. Each parent contributes half the genes of the offspring. This occurs through gametes which have half the chromosome number of the parents (hence haploid). The genes in the chromosomes are passed down by Mendelian principles and are responsible for the traits of the offspring.
