List some of the main human activities that contribute to species extinction, do you think such actives can be justified

Deforestation - It is a main cause for the destruction of many animal habitats and destroys resources needed for animals. So of the reasons it many be justified is the wood is used as a biofuel, building material and it clears space for new development. Whether it is justifiable to the extend it happens now is questionable?
